Pardon me my ignorance - I am not a programmer. I am setting up a blog (looking to hire someone to code it, to be precise) on my own domain. I want to use Open ID, but I also would like to to implement Disqus. Are they incompatible? On the Disqus site it appears as though THEY want to control the user IDs. Is that true?

I wanted to go 'to the source' as it were, rather than have a programmer unfamiliar with these issues offer me a less than current (and therefore less than accurate) answer.

How do you feel about Disqus, by the way? Are they a fellow traveller, a potential ally, or a thorn in your side?

Thank you sincerely for your time.

I am also keeping an eye on http://www.phpbbopenid.com/ as this appears to be the only OpenID phpBB implementation under way these days.

Rock on!

There's also a hot new blog project in Ruby that is getting a bunch of folks excited:
<a href="http://enkiblog.com/" rel="nofollow">Enki</a>.

It's completely OpenID, using it for author login and all comments (that have a link) because - and I quote:
"If you’re not using OpenID you’re a chump"

And... if you can read this, I set it up successfully. Check the timestamps to see how long it took... I'd be surprised if it was more than 5 minutes.
