Like every dork on the planet I have a bunch of machines that I use on a daily basis. I can’t just use a laptop for everything; the keyboards drive me crazy and would doom me to a life of crippled wrists. In any case, I digress.
I have Firefox on all of my machines. I have a Linux box at work with an Apple 12″ PowerBook for travel and then at home I have a Windows XP machine. Working closely on UMO it has made me somewhat of an extensions junkie. The problem of course is keeping each machine up-to-date with the latest extensions that I have installed. What I would absolutely love is the ability to login to a site (ideally UMO) and say “make this my web browser with all of the extensions, bookmarks, etc that I like to use”.
You could effectively login to any machine on the planet with Firefox installed and get “your Firefox”. We are already seeing several extensions that are building communities around web services they provide. This would be yet-another-web-service to enhance the Firefox experience.
Of course maybe I should just toughen up and use my laptop.
